Congratulations to our fantastic Great North Run 2018 runners
Published: Mon, 10th September 2018, 11:16:00 AM
Huge thanks are due to our fabulous Great North Run 2018 runners who did incredibly well training in the summer's heatwave, and all running superbly on the day. We are very grateful to them all.
The day dawned bright and sunny, and our support team were there bright and early getting our stand ready.
During the race start, a man with a microphone on a high stand read out charities' names from people's tops. Our TOFS runners were delighted to hear 'TOFS' read out loud and clear to the assembled crowds!
Andrew Enright was the first runner to pass our Cheer Point.
Next, Nikki "ten half-marathons in a year" Bowes-Watt passed by our stand.
Friends Pete Sowerby and Neil Stevens were next.
Neil is a friend to TOFS, having run the London Marathon for us last year.
Adam Tomlinson's nieces and nephew supported him with a much appreciated jelly baby!
We are very grateful to our members Alex and Simone and family who came along to help cheer on our runners. Our thanks to them.
Many thanks to Adam Tomlinson's parents Hazel and Steven, and nieces and nephew, who were all fantastic at cheering on our runners, plus Adam's sisters and partners, who were all running today for different charities. A real family affair!
We're always pleased to meet our members, so we were delighted when Nicola Bowes came and said hello to us!
What a wonderful day. We hope that all our runners really enjoyed their Great North Run experience, and our thanks to them all again.
To all at TOFS, just a really big THANK YOU for being there. All I wanted was just for someone to listen and understand and you were there for me.

We wanted to thank you again for all the support you have given us over the phone and through your newsletter, website and online forum. We have found TOFS an invaluable resource and spread the word wherever we can about the great work you do.

The TOFS support group does exactly what it says on the tin! It supports. And that’s a very reassuring feeling - talking to people who have been there. You guys do a wonderful job.
Rachel Simpson, parent
During my working life as a paediatric surgeon I learned as much, if not more about TOF from parents and from TOFS meetings as I did from learned journals.
Leela Kapila, past Vice-President of the Royal College of Surgeons
When I read Chew, I’m encouraged by reading about the positive side of OA/TOF and the achievements of all the children and TOF adults. TOFS, the website, the Forum and Chew have all been a marvellous source of information and encouragement for us.
Rachel and Mark Hayes, parents
Our bumpy ride has been so much easier with TOFS; just listening to other people’s experiences and knowing someone is there.
