Hi All,
I have another Frances achievement that I had to share with you all.
Since 5th September she has been antibiotic free and since the 9th September she has put on an amazing 2 lb 9 ozs!! I’ve never known her put on weight so well! I think it’s a combination of her being so well at the minute, which in turn I think is partly caused by her decision to drink through a straw!! As many of you may know Fran also has the laryngeal cleft and I have a sneaky feeling that by using the straw she is able to control her fluids more (she is definitely not coughing as much when she drinks) resulting in less aspiration = less fluid on her airwys/lungs = a happy healthier Frances who is putting on weight! I may be ‘clutching at straws’ (excuse the pun!) but at minute it seems a good explanation to us. Does anybody else think it’s possible? We are seeing resp cons 12 December so no doubt I will be running my thoughts with him (at our last appt he had wanted me to start her on thickned fluids but I consciously held off doing this)

Hi Jayne
That is fabulous news and yes it does make sense to me. Jack has always drunk best with a straw, and he doesn’t have a laryngeal cleft!! I can see that he isn’t comfortable with tipping his head back too far to drink, and I agree that it’s the control of fluids. He does drink from a cup now, but rarely tips his head right back like most people do to drink the last bit.
Well done Frances, great to hear that she’s happy and well.
Long may it last

got a major sucess for us at the moment.have been trying to toilet train devin at night time for all of last year.well on the 22nd he went to bed woke up the next morning with a dry nappy, couldnt beleive it, it carried on til boxing day.boxing day night thought we would try undies.made it until last night with no wet beds or accidents.last night had a mini accident due to him getting the giggles and weeing a tablespoon of wee then waking and finishing in the toilet.
we have also had our first sleep over on xmas night thought that didn’t go too well as he wouldnt go to sleep until 1020pm and was up at 3am and in my parents bed, got a fright from cats fighting outside then slept til 6am.
