Heya, my name is Shannon and I’m 14 years old. I’ve got my next batch of GCSEs coming up within the month but I can not sleep to save my life.
It’s obvious that my reflux is at it’s worse at bed time due to the lying down, and I’ve been waking up unable to breath properly so end up choking for a solid 10 minutes.
I was just wondering if anyone has any tips that do actually help with the sleep because I’ve tried it all, the wedge, the bricks underneath my bed, the hundred pillows behind me but nothing seems to really do the trick.

So if you do have any tips could you please let me know, thankyou.

All my best, Shannon :D

Hi Shannon

My son Jack (4) seems to be worse when he eats late. We were told to avoid letting him do that but of course in the real world it still happens sometimes. Maybe you notice it more too because you can’t sleep. Try getting some exercise to help you sleep.

Do you know what, (and this is generally not a popular opinion with parents) even if you fail your exams, your world will still continue. You will still get to where you want, you just may need to go about it another way. Take some pressure off yourself and try to enjoy this time of your life. Show the things you know (in your exam), and if it’s not enough, well, you did your best.
Good luck and try and remember, this is not the be all and end of everything. Hope you get some sleep. Jody

Hey Jody,
Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried not eating so late and it’s helping with the reflux but not with the no sleep. I guess I just don’t get tired anymore, I have always had a problem with that.
And I just had an exam on wednesday, but now that it is over I do actually feel more relaxed in the evenings. So I guess the stress of the exams does have a lot to do with it.
Thankyou for the advice, hope Jack is doing great smile
