Hi All,
hope you are all well. I have started a new thread on dla as the other was so long. I am just posting to say that we have had the dla renewed until 2011 at the higher rate. I put on the form the worst case scenerios for everything. Goodluck if you are re-applying.
Take care,
Lisa.xx

Congratulations Lisa

For the benefit of new members and perhaps first time users of the forum, please do visit the previous posting for DLA someway back in the General Forum.  Whilst i’m sure this thread will thive with up to date stories, the previous one is packed with information and help as well as hints and tips.  I’d recommend any new claimants to certainly read up as it will help in the preparation of a claim.

Also, Chew is running a series to do with benefits, the Spring edition covering DLA (i’m afraid guys, its my take on it) and tax credits.  In the summer I believe they’re running a piece on Blue Badge and how that can be obtained in respects to a TOF.

Good luck one and all for your future claims/renewals..

Rach

Hi Adele,
How are you and Serena? Hope you are well!! We are doing ok. Time flies doesnt it, we really should try and get together when we live so close! Things just get in the way dont they. Im was so happy when the dla was renewed, it only took two weeks too. Keep in touch and we will try and get together, it would be lovely to meet you and Serena.
Take care,

Hi there, I was trying to look for the previous thread you talked about but I can’t seem to find it, do you have any idea what its topic title was? Thanks for your help x

We were also relieved to have our DLA renewed at the high rate - we went with the worst case scenario approach and got Christopher’s Key Worker at Nursery to fill in the relevant part of it…

re the other thread - I’ve been thinking a wee bit about this - should we perhaps create a “TOFs Knowledge Bank” based upon forum posts, Chew articles, specially written articles by members and specialists?  Searching Chew and the Forum could be a big task, but if a few of us volunteer it could be managable…

What do people think?

Sounds like a good idea to me Bruce, and I would be happy to volunteer.
So long as you told me what I had to do!!

Hi
I’ve been trying to find the original DLA thread .. cos I need it!! Any one any ideas.. Searched manually, and through the search function (for DLA and Disability Living Allowance).. no joy!!

Anyway, had Laurie’s renewal decision through and whilst we’ve been awarded it for another two years, we’ve been down graded to lower rate.  I know they want to save money, but the reason given is “because you need attention with bodily functions for about an hour a day in total”..  My first reaction was .. yes, that’s Breakfast.. what about the rest!! plus we’ve had 2 surgical removal episodes this year ..

Anyway, in process of writing my letter to say I disagree with their decision (prior to formal appeal tribunal) and detail why and I was hoping to find some guidance on the old thread.. other people’s experiences..

Has anyone been successful in getting an intial decision changed and not had to go to tribunal?

Cheers
rachx
