Hi all
Just wondering if anyone elses child has a funny shoulder blade the side they did the operation. Eva isn’t bothered by it at all but when you pull her arms up above her head her right shoulder blade noticably sticks out of her side further than the other one. I’m not concerned about it as it doesn’t bother her at all….just wondered if it was related to the op or not? Maybe the muscle isn’t as strong?

Hi Claire
Our daughter doesnt have a funny shoulder but she does have a leg abnormality she has one leg bigger than the other in bulk. We have repeatedley informed the hospital about this since she was born, but it is only now that they are starting to look into it. She has a ultrasound scan booked for Sept 5th on her tummy not sure what this will show but at least its a start then they are going to do a bone scan. (The fun will be lying her still for the scan)  Maybe you should mention it to her consultant when you go for a check up?

Hi Claire

yes devins shoulder blade sticks out on the side he was operated on.i just thought that it was something to do with the problems we had with him always holding his arms back behind him as a newborn, but now that you mention it it is very well it is from the op.

Dear All,

My son Adam, now 12, has a very odd little shoulder.  His left shoulder sticks up about two inches higher than the other, and yes, his blade sticks out when he lifts up his arms!  We were so worried about scoliosis that I asked a long time ago, and was told it is a common side effect, but it is usually on the side of the surgery…not the opposite as is his case.

Hi,
Kyle has a distinct height difference in his shoulders with his left shoulder being lower than his right and consequently his head leans to the left slightly. This is due to Scoliosis which was picked up on my 20 week scan however the TOF was not. He will be having surgery next year at GOS for it but it does not bother him and other than the cusve you would not know he had it, he even walked to 10 and half months despite docs saying he might never walk before he was born!

Hi Claire,

I have just noticed that my daughters right shoulder blade sticks out more than the other when I lift her arms up. The other thing I have noticed is that her right shoulder clicks quite often when I pick her up from under the armpits. Have you had this checked yet and is it a side effect of the surgery? Does it cause long term issues, such as joint pain?
